When I decided to visit Kazakhstan, I honestly didn’t know much about the country or Central Asia in general. I knew Kazakhstan had a long history of nomadic culture, that it had been part of the former USSR, and that it was a major oil exporter. That was about it. I had no real idea what daily life looked like there today, what travelers could actually do, or just how much this beautiful country has to offer.  Which is a shame because Kazakhstan is amazing.  It’s one of the most underrated countries I’ve visited so far, and the fact that so many Americans, myself included, know so little about it…
