How to visit the Rainbow Slide in El Salvador

The giant rainbow slide in El Salvador that’s been popping up all over social media has caught everyone’s attention. Having visited myself, I can attest that it is super fun. Feel like a kid again and get your adrenaline pumping at Picnic Steakhouse’s famous rainbow slide. 

Things to know about visiting the Rainbow Slide in El Salvador: 

The rainbow slide is located at the restaurant Picnic Steakhouse. If you’re taking an Uber or taxi, let the driver know this is where you are going. 

Picnic Steakhouse is open from 10:30 am – 10:00 pm Monday – Friday and from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. 

The cost to go down the slide is $5 USD. You’ll purchase your ticket when you enter the restaurant. They’ll also ask if you’d like to reserve a table to eat. You can choose to eat before or after riding the slide.

It’s not required to eat at the restaurant, but I highly recommend it while you are there. The food is very good. They specialize in steak, but there is a varied menu. The view from the hilltop restaurant is amazing.  It’s a great place to watch the sunset!

How to get to the Rainbow Slide: 

The famous rainbow slide is an attraction located at the restaurant Picnic Steakhouse. The restaurant is located just outside San Salvador. 

From the San Benito neighborhood in San Salvador, it is a 20 minute drive. For driving directions, check out this Google Map.  There is plenty of free parking at the restaurant. 

Uber is also available in San Salvador. An Uber ride to Picnic Steakhouse from the San Benito neighborhood in San Salvador should cost between $5-10 USD. 

You can also visit the slide as part of a day tour visiting the nearby El Boqueron National Park.

As the rainbow slide is located just outside San Salvador, you’ll want to plan this activity for one of the days that you are staying in the city. Having a late evening flight home from the airport in San Salvador, it was the perfect activity to end my trip on that final day.
